How to Prepare for Online Live Yoga Classes.

Students engage in online yoga classes for various reasons, including time and place convenience, the need to keep social distance, and more. You can choose to either engage in online live yoga classes through this website or prerecorded classes on the Tucson Divine Journey Yoga YouTube Channel.

It is important to prepare effectively for online live classes to ensure the full benefits of the experience.  Here are some ideas to help each student get the most out of the online live yoga experience with Divine Journey Yoga.

The following steps will help you prepare for online live yoga classes:

  1. Make sure you are well enough to engage in the classes. Studies show that you need to clear with your physician before you engage in yoga, especially if you suffer from conditions like arthritis and osteoporosis.

  2. Choose a class of your experience level.

  3. Wear comfortable clothes and have props nearby.  Usually all that is needed is a blanket, block and strap (even a bathrobe strap works well).

  4. Ensure you have enough time to complete the class to maximize the benefits of yoga.

  5. Minimize interruptions like children or pets running into the room while you are in your yoga zoom classes.

  6. Prepare your set up and log in to class 10 to 15 minutes before class begins. Ensure you have the appropriate app, for example, Zoom, and sign in to it.

  7. Choose a space where you are most comfortable and have room for your arms to spread out on either side of your mat.

  8. Get a stable internet connection. If you have a slow internet connection for yoga zoom classes, you can turn off your video camera and display just your name.

  9. Ensure you can easily see your screen.  Often placing the device on a chair or stool works well.  You may also want to link your device to your TV screen using an HTMI cable.

  10. Mute your microphone to cancel background noises that could interrupt others in the yoga zoom classes.
